Amtrak earlier this week reported details of its record 34.5 million customer trips in fiscal-year 2025.
The railroad's FY2025 ridership, which climbed 5.1% over FY2024's figure, was an all-time record, Amtrak officials said in a press release.
The intercity national railroad posted increases in all three of its business segments: up 8.1% to 15 million trips on the Northeast Corridor; up 2.4% to 14.8 million trips on state-supported routes; and up 4.2% increase to 4.4 million trips on the long-distance routes.
The FY2025 ridership report included results from two new routes: the Borealis train, which operates from Chicago to Milwaukee to St. Paul, Minnesota, introduced in 2024; and the Mardi Gras, the railroad's long-awaited return to service along the Gulf Coast that was launched this summer. The Borealis logged 212,909 customer trips in FY2025 and the Mardi Gras, 18,906.
Also this week, Amtrak announced it brought in adjusted ticket revenue of $2.7 billion, a first in Amtrak’s history and 10.4% higher year over year.
