Amtrak and its supplier Alstom unveiled the interiors of the new Acela trainsets during an event held yesterday in Philadelphia.
The new fleet is designed to deliver improved Acela high-speed rail service between New York City, Washington, D.C., and Boston. The trains will incorporate comfort, technology, innovation and safety features on the railroad's most environmentally sustainable fleet to date, Amtrak officials said in a press release.
Amtrak expects the trains to be ready for service next year. The trains are being manufactured at Alstom’s facility in Hornell, New York.
"Between the sleek design of their interiors, state-of-the-art technology, sustainable amenities and innovative safety features, our new Acela trains will help revolutionize American train travel," said Amtrak President and CEO Stephen Gardner.
