Union Pacific Railroad ended 2012 by loading 856 coal trains in the Southern Power River Basin (SPRB) and 218 coal trains in the Colorado/Utah Region in December. By comparison, the Class I loaded 1,085 and 213 coal trains in the SPRB and two-state region, respectively, in December 2011.
For all of 2012, UP loaded 10,415 coal trains in the SPRB versus 12,254 trains in 2011. In the Colorado/Utah Region, the Class I loaded 2,704 coal trains last year compared with 2,666 trains in 2011.
