Railex installs computer system to help manage warehouse, rail produce shipments

advertisement

Produce distributor Railex L.L.C. recently implemented Motek’s Priya® warehouse management system to ensure the accuracy of cross-country rail shipments.

Railex plans to move produce from Wallula, Wash., to Rotterdam, N.Y., via CSX Transportation’s and Union Pacific Railroad’s new dedicated produce train.

A computerized system, Priya is designed to support third-party logistics functions, provide real-time in-transit inventory data to speed cross-docking onto trucks, and generate bills and inventory reports. As trucks enter a warehouse, produce pallets will be cross-docked for lot sales or graded, selected, packaged, and labeled for resale as packaged goods. Produce then will be immediately loaded onto trains.
