Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
'RailSight' railroad customers surpass 460 mark, Railinc says

Yesterday, Railinc announced that more than 460 railroads are reporting events through its “RailSight” data network.

Designed to provide a single access point for North American rail event data, including events involving intermodal equipment, RailSight enables subscribers to report or receive information in near real-time.

The data network can process information provided in more than 20 different Car Location Message and two Electronic Data Interchange formats, and affix Standard Point Location Codes, estimated times of arrival, and purchase order and bill of lading numbers to data messages. For intermodal users, RailSight can process information from empty in-gate and in-bond customs reports.

Railinc provides information technology services to North American railroads, shippers, equipment owners and suppliers, and manages e-commerce Web site Steelroads.com.
