Quandel Consultants, a Chicago-based rail and transit firm, announced that Amtrak veteran Ray Lang has joined as vice president of business development. Lang served Amtrak for 30 years, most recently as VP of Amtrak's state supported service line from 2020 to 2025. He worked with 21 partners in 18 states to negotiate annual agreements covering service operations on 29 routes across the country. Lang will lead Quandel Consultants in developing client relationships and tracking upcoming projects.
Alstom has completed production of the first train car body shell for Santiago Metro Line 7, one of seven lines on the public transport system covering the Chilean capital. A total of 37 Metropolis trainsets, each with five cars, will be produced in Taubate, in the state of San Paulo, Brazil. These trains are part of a larger contract between Alstom and Metro de Santiago, which includes the supply of the Urbalis CBTC signaling system, a 20-year maintenance contract, the 37 trainsets, and a predictive maintenance system for the trains, tracks and catenary system, Alstom officials said in a press release. Alstom's Metropolis trains are made of stainless steel and have a lifespan of over 40 years.
