Pacific Harbor Line (PHL), which serves the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, received the Bob Kleist Leadership Award during the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce World Trade Week celebration held earlier this month.

The award recognizes organizations or individuals who have shown leadership in the development and promotion of global trade in Southern California. It is named after the late Bob Kleist, who was known for his international business advocacy.

“This award celebrates the essential role of rail in international logistics, and we’re proud to serve at the heart of America’s busiest port complex," said PHL President Otis Cliatt II in a press release.

An Anacostia Rail Holdings subsidiary, PHL connects port terminals to the national rail network and reduces truck traffic and environmental impact. PHL’s 60 miles of track support the seamless movement of intermodal cargo, while minimizing truck traffic and reducing environmental impact, Anacostia officials said.

PHL officials accepted the award May 1 at the chamber's World Trade Week celebration.
