Wi-Tronix: Mobile Phone Detection system

The Wi-Tronix® Mobile Phone Detection system is used to monitor compliance to railroads' mobile device safety rules and federal regulations. The system is designed to decrease and prevent incidents that are caused by distracted operation of a locomotive.

In addition, the system can be used to ensure that the many engineers and crew who are committed to operating locomotives safely day-in and day-out are recognized and commended for their dedication to safety, according to Wi-Tronix.

The Mobile Phone Detection System is integrated into the Violet™ solution to detect devices that transmit or receive over mobile phone frequency bands in the cab of the locomotive. Customizable rules are applied to determine if a safety violation has occurred.

If a violation has occurred, Violet™ generates a log and sends a notification to a specified individuals or distribution lists. Railroads receive real-time notifications of possible violations so they can review the incident.

The system keeps a historical log of possible violations to track compliance to railroads’ mobile phone policies.
