Following last year's launch of two FDA-compliant coatings, AkzoNobel Protective Coatings has gained additional FDA approval for one of two new high performance, chemical-resistant linings designed to protect tank and hopper cars from chemical corrosion. Suitable for new rail cars or for maintaining existing fleets, owners, OEMs and repair shops, the two linings are: • Devchem® 253HS, a high solids, one-coat epoxy novolac lining that the company says provides "exceptional resistance to a wide range of highly corrosive chemicals and solvents over a variety of temperatures and pressures"; and • Interline® 994, a two component, chemical-resistant phenolic epoxy novolac lining that is FDA approved for rail-car interiors that carry harsh corrosive liquids and oils at high temperatures, including molten sulfur. For more than a decade, AkzoNobel has offered protective coatings, linings and finishes developed for the North American rail industry, including chemical-resistant linings, epoxies, polyurethanes, polysiloxanes, polyaspartics and other specialty coatings. Visit AkzoNobel/International Paint LLC at Booth #2058 at Railway Interchange 2017, which will be held Sept. 17-20, 2017, in Indianapolis.
