RTA’s annual tie grading seminar set for Alabama in July

The Railway Tie Association (RTA) plans to hold its 22nd annual tie grading seminar July 20-22 in Montevallo, Ala.
Instructors — comprising professors, railroaders, foresters, wood preservers and sawmillers — will conduct exercises on various topics, including untreated wood deterioration, tie storage and handling, species identification, defects and grading, and treating technology. The event also will include a tour of Seaman Timber Co.’s wood treating plant in Montevallo.
