The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Rail and Intermodal Freight has opened its online grant application portal for the Freight Rail Grant Program (FRGP).
MDOT will award grand assistance to local jurisdictions, railroads, businesses and commercial interests to preserve rail corridors, support economic development and foster sustainable and innovative technology, MDOT officials said in a press release.
This year's program has $1 million in total funding available. Applications will be accepted to the Maryland OneStop application portal through June 30. Applicants may submit an optional project readiness form to better assess the proposed project's readiness to receive grant funding and its alignment with MDOT's goals and priorities, MDOT officials said.
