L.B. Foster Co. officials recently received the words all customer-focused suppliers long to hear: "You’re the best."



On June 19, L.B. Foster announced that its Piling Division had received a 2002 "Supplier of the Year" award from Union Pacific Railroad. UP presented the award last month at the Class I’s suppliers' conference in Omaha, Neb.



"[L.B. Foster Piling Division] exemplifies many of the ideals of customer service," UP said in presenting the award. "Their on-time delivery report card is simply astounding, given the relatively short lead times and numerous changes in project timing and requirements. They have held prices flat on stock items and lost only one special order bid on price this year. … L. B. Foster Piling succeeds at the old adage, `the customer is king,' with a spotless track record, remarkable sense of urgency and business-like vision for the future. This company deserves to be a 2002 Supplier of the Year."



The award serves to reinforce the company’s "ongoing efforts and commitment to provide the Union Pacific, and all of our customers, with products and services needed to ensure the continued success of their businesses," said L.B. Foster President and Chief Executive Officer Stan Hasselbusch in a prepared statement.



L.B. Foster manufactures, fabricates and distributes rail, construction and tubular products.
