BART to receive APTA's 'outstanding achievement' award

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) will present Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) with its "Outstanding Achievement" award in the large transit system category — agencies that provide at least 30 million annual passenger trips — during the association’s Oct. 12 annual meeting in Atlanta.

APTA is recognizing BART in part because of the agency’s customer satisfaction ratings, which have improved since BART completed a 10-year, $1.2 billion renovation program on time and on budget earlier this year, according to a prepared statement. The program included overhauling cars, upgrading stations, opening the San Francisco Airport extension, and installing new fare gates and ticket vending machines.
