Sound Transit to solicit input on Tacoma Link corridor alternatives
Sound Transit will host an open house on April 11 to solicit public feedback on additional corridor alternatives for a potential project designed to expand the 1.6-mile Tacoma Link light-rail system.
To be held at the Tacoma Dome Station, the meeting is in response to Tacoma city officials’ request for Sound Transit to evaluate a “hybrid” corridor as the agency prepares to identify one or more alternatives that could advance to the environmental phase. In addition to the city’s corridor alternative, Sound Transit officials are evaluating another hybrid corridor suggested by a citizens’ stakeholder group that convened as part of the project’s alternatives analysis.
Once the five corridor alternatives are analyzed, Sound Transit staff will make recommendations to the agency’s board, possibly later this month or in May.
Voters approved a potential partnership to expand Tacoma Link in 2008 as part of the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure.
