New York City Transit's FASTRACK repair program to cover more lines in 2013
MTA New York City Transit's (NYCT) FASTRACK subway maintenance program will expand to areas outside the Central Business District and downtown Brooklyn later this year, including to the Grand Concourse Line in the Bronx starting Jan. 14.
NYCT a year ago launched FASTRACK, which calls for devoting four consecutive weeknights to perform maintenance work in tunnels, stations and on tracks. The process involves complete suspension of service within a given line segment for a seven-hour period between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. to provide crews complete access to the system without interference from passing trains.
The new FASTRACK corridors for 2013 will include the Broadway NQR south of Queensboro Plaza to Court Street; A Line between 168th Street and 207th Street in upper Manhattan; Concourse D Line between 161st and 205th streets; Queens Boulevard Line EFMR between 5th Ave/53rd Street and Roosevelt Avenue; Lexington Avenue Local 6 between 45th and 100th Streets; and Lexington Avenue Express 45 also between 45th and 100th streets.
