Maryland’s acting Transportation Secretary John Porcari recently appointed Paul Wiedefeld administrator of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to succeed Lisa Dickerson, who resigned earlier this month after serving in the top post since May 2005.

Senior vice president with consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff, Wiedefeld also manages the company’s Baltimore office. Between 2002 and 2005, he served as executive director of the Maryland Aviation Administration, where he managed BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport’s $1.8 billion expansion.

Porcari also named Kathryn Waters MTA’s deputy administrator for operations. Since 2002, she has served as vice president of commuter rail and railroad management for Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Waters previously spent 30 years as a transit planner and manager in Maryland, rising to the position of manager and chief operating officer MTA’s MARC commuter-rail service.
