Pinsly Railroad Chairman Silver retires

Maggie Silver recently retired as chairman of the Pinsly Railroad Co., ending a more than 40-year career at the company her late father Samuel Pinsly started in 1938.

Silver, who joined Pinsly Railroad in 1965, succeeded her father as president in 1977 after he died. In 2000, she became chairman and passed the presidential reins to her son, John Levine, who continues to serve in that role.

Pinsly Railroad owns and operates five short lines: the Pioneer Valley, Florida Central, Florida Midland, Florida Northern and Arkansas Midland railroads. The company also operates Arkansas and Railroad Distribution Services in Massachusetts, Florida and Arkansas.

Silver also is director emeritus of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, which she joined in 1978. She plans to remain active in the association and on its board.
