The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) recently named Steve Carmichael president and chief executive officer. He most recently served as acting president.
Carmichael previously held a number of management positions in various ONTC business units, including vice president of rail services, a position responsible for overseeing the company's freight- and passenger-rail operations. He currently serves as chairman of Nipissing University's board and a member of the Railway Association of Canada's safety and operations management committee.
"[Carmichael] has a wide breadth of experience on the rail side of operations, as well as in telecommunications, labor relations, administration and finance," said ONTC Chairman Ted Hargreaves in a prepared statement.
ONTC operates the 836-mile Ontario Northland Railway, and Northlander, Little Bear and Polar Bear Express passenger trains, and provides scheduled and charter motor coach, and telecommunication services.
