Last week, Metra's board elected Brad O'Halloran chairman and Jack Partelow, vice chairman.
O'Halloran succeeds Larry Huggins, who had presided over the board as acting chairman since Carole Doris left the board in April 2011. O'Halloran is just the third chairman in the the railroad's history, Metra officials said in a prepared statement.
This is O'Halloran's second stint on Metra's board; he previously represented Cook County on the board in 2003 and 2004. He also is a member of the Orland Park, Ill., board of trustees.
In addition to his public service roles, O'Halloran serves as regional director of development for the University of Notre Dame. He has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, retailing and business development.
Partelow was appointed to Metra's board in July 2009. He retired in 1994 after a 32-year career with Dun & Bradstreet, where he rose to the position of senior vice president, national field operations.
