The League of Railway Women has opened nominations for its 2025 Railway Woman of the Year Award, which is cosponsored by Progressive Railroading.

The award recognizes an outstanding woman in rail who exemplifies leadership, innovation and a commitment to safety and community. Nominations are due Oct. 10.

The LRW is seeking nominees who:
• establish a strong vision and foster continuous improvement and creativity;
• overcome challenges and break down barriers, especially those supporting the recruitment and retention of women in rail;
• drive innovation and blaze new trails within the industry;
• demonstrate excellence in their organization and community; and
• champion safe rail practices and cultivate a culture of safety.

The winner will be honored at the National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association (NRC) 2026 Conference & NRC-REMSA Exhibition, to be held Jan. 7–10, 2026, in Hollywood, California.

The Railway Woman of the Year Advisory Committee, made up of past award recipients, will review of all nominations. These leaders bring deep industry insight and help ensure the award reflects the highest standards of excellence, LRW officials said in a press release.
