advertisement
Kansas City Southern recently appointed John Jacobsen vice president and chief engineer. He will be responsible for engineering and maintenance-of-way functions for The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR).
A 38-year rail industry veteran, Jacobsen is beginning his second stint at KCS. He previously held various positions at Illinois Central Railroad and the Mid-South Railroad, which KCSR purchased in 1993. From 1993 to 2001, he was KCSR's VP and chief engineer.
Since 2001, Jacobsen has provided consulting services to KCSR subsidiary Superior Tie and Timber. He previously played an integral role in the rebuilding of the Panama Canal Railway Co. — which is partly owned by KCS — and provided ongoing engineering consultation to the railway.
