Last week, Kansas City Southern announced it completed organizational changes to streamline the international mechanical departments and gain cross-border mechanical efficiencies in preparation for continued traffic growth.
As part of the changes, KCS promoted Rudy Bernard from general manager to assistant vice president of mechanical to lead the mechanical departments in the United States and Mexico. AVP-Car Shop Kenny Sims, AVP-Locomotives Earl Hauptman, and Directors of Locomotive Utilization Chris Mitchell and Ricardo Galvan will report to Bernard, who will coordinate efforts with mechanical department leaders in Mexico.
In addition, KCS promoted Ricardo Galvan from superintendent to general manager of international mechanical. He will helm all mechanical field operations with direct reports in the United States and the coordination with leaders in Mexico. Superintendent of Cars Alvaro Rodriguez and Superintendent of Locomotives Moises Vilchis also were promoted.
“These changes will help foster an environment where we are safer and more operationally fluid,” said KCS Executive VP of Operations Dave Ebbrecht in an item posted on the “KCS News” web page.
