Chicago-area commuter railroad Metra yesterday marked the completion of its $33.9 million, three-station rehabilitation project on the Metra Electric Line.

IHC Construction of Elgin was the project contractor, Metra officials said in a press release.

The company upgraded the 79th Street and Chatham, 87th Street and Woodruff, and 103rd Street and Rosemoor stations over the past two years to feature ADA-compliant street level entrances and lobbies with new elevators, stairs, headhouses,  composite deck platforms and lighting and signage.

Metra paid for the project with funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation's six-year, $33.2 billion Rebuild Illinois capital plan.

A similar station rehabilitation project was completed at the 147th Street/Sibley Boulevard and Homewood stations in 2024. Work is underway on the 95th Street and Chicago State University and rehabilitation work is planned for several more stations.
