On Jan. 20, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) plans to release for a 30-day public review period the final Environmental Impact Statement/Report (EIS/EIR) for the Regional Connector Project.
Community open houses have been scheduled in February in downtown Los Angeles for the public to learn more about the project and its environmental impact, LACMTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The Regional Connector is a proposed underground light-rail line that will connect the Gold Line to the Blue Line and soon-to-open Expo Line. The final EIS/EIR contains recommendations for the two-mile alignment and three stations, as well as for environmental mitigation work for the project.
LACMTA’s board is expected to consider the recommendations on Feb. 23. Pending funding approval, construction could begin in 2013, agency officials said.
