advertisement
By month’s end, Union Pacific Railroad expects to complete a $7.6 million track improvement project between Comus and Albert Lea, Minn.
Begun in April, the project includes installing 58,000 ties, replacing six curve-rail sections, spreading more than 22 tons of ballast and replacing 78 grade crossing surfaces.
The work is part of UP’s plan to spend more than $1 billion this year to improve and maintain track across its 33,000-mile system.
