The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is soliciting the public's input on the environmental document for the Mountain View double-track project.

The project involves the construction of a second set of tracks next to an existing light-rail line between State Route 85 and Whisman light-rail station in Mountain View, Calif. The project will enable VTA to improve the system's performance and reliability, VTA officials said in a press release.

VTA has prepared a Draft Initial Study/Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration as required by the California Environmental Quality Act. The document analyzes the potential environmental impacts associated with the construction, operation and maintenance of the project. Comments are due June 16.

To collect public comments, VTA officials will hold a meeting May 22 at Mountain View City Hall.
