Maintenance Of Way Article
CSX schedules trackwork in Virginia

Maintenance Of Way
On Sunday, CSX Transportation plans to begin track maintenance work on a line running through Ashland, Va.

Work will be preformed during the day, limiting the continuing operation of Amtrak and freight trains on an adjacent track. As a result, all trains — including Amtrak's service between Washington, D.C., and Virginia stations and points south — likely will experience delays, CSXT officials said in a press release. The Class I is working with Amtrak and the commonwealth of Virginia to provide up-to-date information on the status of any train delays.

Crews will replace both rails on one of the tracks in Ashland covering about 1.8 miles, including the replacement of 18,718 feet of rail. Work will be performed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday for two weeks, ending March 7.

Subsequent work to replace about 38,000 ties on the line between Greendale and Ashland will begin March 17 and end on March 28. That work also will be performed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, CSXT officials said.
