A. Stucki Co. today announced its acquisition of Wheelworx, a U.S.-based provider of rail-car wheelset reconditioning services.
A. Stucki is working on an integration plan to maintain production capabilities while creating growth opportunities for employees at both companies, A. Stucki officials said in a press release.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Wheelworx was founded in 2008 and is the largest privately held reconditioner of freight car wheelsets in the United States, A. Stucki officials said. Wheelworx has 105 employees at manufacturing sites in Calera, Alabama, and Pekin, Illinois.
"The addition of Wheelworx opens new commercial opportunities and enhances our ability to provide end-to-end solutions to our rail-car customers," said Ron Port, CEO of A. Stucki. "It also makes us competitive in additional locations in the South and Midwest."
