Rail News: Intermodal
CSX Intermodal and Union Pacific Railroad recently expanded their STAX intermodal program to include containers moving to and from Laredo, Texas.
A domestic-container program offering 53-foot high-cube containers and coast-to-coast logistics services, STAX service now is available to Laredo via CSXI's Chicago gateway. Service via the Memphis gateway is expected to begin Sept. 22.
The Class Is plan to provide shippers using STAX equipment — which include 110-inch door openings and floors designed to withstand 24,000 pounds — access to the Mexican border via Laredo or El Paso.
As a program incentive, CSXI expects to offer $50 for all STAX equipment reserved in Chicago and moved to any network location from Sept. 12-30.
