Intermodal service provider adds Seattle location
Lynden Air Freight division Skytrack Oct. 26 added a Seattle terminal to the company's network of 11 intermodal consolidation centers.
Skytrack which provides Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe warehousing, and materials consolidation and distribution services named District Operations Manager Allen Thorne and Operations Supervisor Matt Hawkins to head the new location.
Through its cross-dock consolidation and consignment inventory systems, Skytrack aims to save railroads money by minimizing rails' need to contract trucks for multiple less-than-truckload moves to facilities across the United States, and enabling railroads to position frequently-used materials closer to end users.
