The hearing's focus will be the "mistakes and lessons" of the HSIPR program, according to a press release issued by Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), who chairs the committee.
Nearly all of the $10 billion in appropriated funding for high-speed rail projects has been awarded and obligated. The FRA has now shifted its focus to project oversight.
Today's hearing will examine FRA's management of the program, the status of rail projects and what should be done to improve the program, Mica's release states. Other scheduled speakers include officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General and Government Accountability Office, as well as a representative of freight railroads.
