Yesterday, proppant supplier Santrol announced it now operates five terminals in the Eagle Ford Shale region in Texas.
By expanding to five terminals, the company can more easily ship more than 1 million tons of proppant per year throughout the region, Santrol officials said in a prepared statement. The Texas terminals supply Santrol's northern white frac sand and resin-coated proppants used in the hydraulic fracturing process.
“We have more terminals with more available rail-car capacity than any other frac sand supplier in the region," said Tom Bonno, Santrol's terminal field service manager.
The company now operates two rail terminals in Alice served by Kansas City Southern; a rail terminal facility in Gardendale served by Union Pacific Railroad; a rail terminal in Gonzales served by the Texas, Gonzales and Northern Railway Co.; and a terminal in San Antonio that’s dual-served by UP and BNSF Railway Co.
