BNSF, COFC Logistics to expand container availability across U.S.

BNSF Railway Co. and COFC Logistics yesterday announced a collaboration designed to expand COFC's network of service offerings into the Eastern United States and Monterrey, Mexico.

COFC provides ramp-to-ramp intermodal service. The collaboration with BNSF will enable COFC to deliver more container availability to intermodal marketing companies (IMCs) that rely on equipment from partner railroads, BNSF officials said in a press release.

BNSF and COFC will provide IMCs with seven new ramp pairs and optimized service schedules designed specifically to meet the needs of non-asset IMCs. The service enhancement also will provide entry into Monterrey in partnership with Ferromex, offering IMCs greater flexibility, increased capacity and a broader market reach. 

"We are excited to expand the reach and capacity of our industry leading intermodal network to the IMC community, through these key additions to COFC Logistics' service offering," said BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel.
