Thelen, Heilig assume VP posts at NS

Norfolk Southern Corp. recently named Gerhard Thelen vice president of operations planning and support. He will be responsible for policies, budgets, research and tests, operations planning and quality management functions.

Most recently VP of mechanical, Thelen has served in various quality, engineering, research and mechanical positions since joining NS in 1977.

Meanwhile, NS named Tim Heilig VP of mechanical to succeed Thelen. Most recently assistant VP of transportation network, Heilig has held various management information, intermodal, engineering, mechanical and transportation positions since joining the railroad in 1971.
