Job history: Lisa joined Cando in 2016 as a safety officer. Since then, she has risen through the ranks, becoming director of corporate safety in November 2020, and assistant VP of safety, environmental and regulatory in March 2022. Recently, she was promoted to VP.

Why she's influential as a leader: Lisa is responsible for compliance with Cando's safety, environmental and regulatory strategies. She has developed and improved safety processes, initiatives and programs that have won national safety awards for the company. She also oversees the company's safety management system and leads regulatory and assessment activities.

Lisa's leadership and mentorship have ensured that safety is a core value at Cando. With 35 years of railway operations, management and safety experience, Lisa has produced documentable safety achievements as a team leader during her entire career. Prior to joining Cando in 2016, she was a conductor, locomotive engineer and manager for Canadian Pacific, where she gained strong operational and safety experience. Through those Class I experiences, along with further education and her time at Cando, she is a safety leader who is respected by her peers. She is an accredited safety auditor, has been trained in modern safety management practices and is a member of the Railway Association of Canada's safety culture committee.
