Bay Colony Railroad Corp. recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to acquire from CSX Transportation a 5.9-mile line in Bristol County, Mass.
CSXT controls New York Central Lines L.L.C., which operates the line.
Formed in 1977, the 122-mile Bay Colony Railroad provides freight-rail service in southeastern Massachusetts and passenger-rail service on Cape Cod, and repairs rail cars.
