Indiana Eastern Railroad to lease CSX line (8/22/2005)
8/22/2025Indiana Eastern Railroad L.L.C. recently filed an exemption notice with the Surface Transportation Board to lease from CSX Transportation and operate a 43-mile line between Richmond, Ind., and Fernald, Ohio.
The newly formed short line also would operate related spur, industrial, team, switching and side tracks.
Under a land and track lease agreement, CSXT would retain overhead trackage rights on the line between Cottage Grove, Ind., and Fernald until Dec. 31, when the Class I’s U.S. Department of Energy contract to move contaminated dirt expires.
