Woman of Influence in Rail

Shannon Bagato

VP of law, general counsel & corporate secretary
TTX Co.

Job history: Shannon has worked for TTX for the past 20 years. She has experience in employment and labor, training and development, risk management, corporate compliance, antitrust, environmental matters, intellectual property, litigation management and pensions and benefits. Prior to her current role, she was AVP, assistant general counsel and corporate secretary; assistant general counsel; senior general attorney; and general attorney. In those roles, she advised senior leadership and trained employees on legal and regulatory issues affecting TTX and the rail industry, negotiated contracts and licensing agreements, managed the intellectual property portfolios, oversaw litigation and supported government affairs.

Why she's influential as a leader: With roots in railroading, following in the footsteps of her uncles, grandfather and great-grandfather, Shannon pairs deep industry, legal and regulatory knowledge with strategic leadership that has successfully guided TTX through complex challenges. Her approach has strengthened TTX's culture and expanded the company's impact.

Over the past year, Shannon helped guide TTX through a volatile trade environment marked by aggressive tariff measures on imported freight-rail couplers. Under her leadership, TTX spearheaded the rail industry's defense before the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Court of International Trade.

She has represented TTX before the Surface Transportation Board and has engaged in policy discussions with the Railway Supply Institute and STB to ensure that TTX's perspectives on telematics and data sharing were communicated and considered by policymakers.
