William E. Van Trump was installed as AREMA's 2009 - 2010 President and officially took office at the conclusion of the AREMA 2009 Annual Conference. He began his career in 1967 as a laborer and machine operator on track maintenance gangs. He has worked for Union Pacific Railroad for over 40 years in the track maintenance and construction departments. He is a member of two Transportation Research Board panels dealing with transportation disaster recovery and has held a variety of management positions from Roadmaster to Division Engineer to his current position as Senior Assistant V.P. Engineering. He holds a BA degree from the University of Wyoming.
