APTA recognizes Keolis, Clever Devices for sustainability commitment
As part of APTA’s Sustainability Commitment program, companies pledge to take actions that lead to continuous improvements in environmental, social and economic sustainability. Based on measurable achievements, APTA honors organizations with platinum, gold, silver and bronze level recognition for their efforts, APTA officials said in a press release.
Keolis received gold-level recognition for implementing a strategic roadmap to advance the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter-rail service in Boston toward sustainable operations and excellence in safety, operations and corporate social responsibility.
Keolis is promoting greater environmental awareness among its 2,400 Boston-area employees and reducing its impact on the environment. Keolis is the first commuter-rail provider to achieve gold-level status outside of Amtrak, APTA officials said.
Clever Devices received bronze-level recognition for its sustainability program, particularly in the areas of professional development, employee health and safety, corporate stewardship and transit technology solutions. The program has helped transit agencies to reduce emissions and fuel waste, avoid costly repairs, and retain and increase ridership.
Clever Devices provides train operations, communications, planning and scheduling, real-time passenger information and other mobility solutions for rail, bus and paratransit operators.
Since APTA began its program in 2009, 155 public transit agencies and businesses have signed on, with 38 receiving recognition.
