Bombardier Transportation opened a new Kuala Lumpur hub to support rail projects in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region. The new office will accommodate more than 100 engineering, project management, systems integration and signaling specialists, according to a Bombardier press release.Alstom officials marked the arrival of the first Citadis Compact at the launch of the first tramway line of the Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Etoile urban district in France. The Sept. 1 entry into commercial service was announced during a press conference. Aubagne's Citadis Compact tram, which will serve the line from Le Charrel to the Aubagne bus station, is the result of joint efforts of the company's design and styling department, the artist Hervé di Rosa and the children of the town's schools, Alstom officials said.UNITRAC Railroad Materials Inc. has named Scott Arnold vice president of operations at the company's headquarters and manufacturing facility in Knoxville, Tenn. Arnold most recently was director of operation for Yale Locks. He has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. At UNITRAC, Arnold will focus on guding optimization performance, enhancing processes and performance, and augmenting overall production capacity. Jonathan Nance has joined Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM) as a principal project manager in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. He has 29 years of experience with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, most recently as deputy chief engineer. Nance had statewide responsibility for the maintenance and construction programs of 14 divisions and 21 support units. At HMM, he will oversee construction engineering and inspection services and coordinate the North Carolina design-build program.
Holland L.P. recently created a 9/11 MobileWelder themed truck with artwork that includes red, white and blue striping, along with a “We Will Never Forget” shield and American flag. "This project has deep meaning to Holland and its employees. We are honored to have a vehicle in our fleet that pays respect to the events of Sept. 11," said President Jordan Wolf in a press release. The 9/11 MobileWelder’s inaugural assignment is to service a transit line in Denver.
