The company says that the newly cab equipped S-Clipper is designed to apply four pre-set McKay Safelok or Safelok III clips on a single tie, or retract four clips per tie with no workhead tooling changeout. There is an optional nipper available. The work capacity of the machine is 110- to 140-pound rail, requiring adjustments for both rail base and height changes. It is also necessary to adjust for the application stroke to prevent over-driving the clip, and the retract stroke to remove clip from rail insulator, but maintain in clip socket for rail change out. The machine incorporates the Bendix air brake and air dryer systems using Cobra brake shoes on four wheels.
