A 55-inch grease distribution blade and 48 grease ports are what separates the MC-4XL® from the MC-4® (22-3/4-inch distribution blade and 18 grease ports). The aluminum no-grind design with longer grease distribution blade delivers greater grease coverage per wheel when compared with a two-bar system utilizing MC-3 or MC-4, the company says. MC-4XL applicators are now available (new or retrofit) with GreaseGuide™ which is a dramatic advancement over the old style grease troughs that only collected wasted grease, the company says. The GreaseGuide re-directs or “guides” this grease back to the wheel flange where it can “carry”out its intended purpose — protecting the rail and wheels. The GreaseGuide liner re-shapes to conform to the profile of each passing wheel flange. The MC-4XL mounts to 112RE-140RE rail and uses the same rail base block mounting system utilizing a J-bolt that is found on the MC-4. It is also suited to excessively head-worn rail. The MC-4XL is part of the Total Friction Management™ offering of lubrication/friction management products and services.
