The Model 344 Short Finder is used throughout the railroad and rail transit industries to test insulated joint and other track insulation devices. A variety of easy-to-use connections are designed to make the unit adaptable to local needs and conditions. It can also be used to locate sections of poor ballast, bad connections in track wire and bond installations. Finding uninsulated gauge rods hidden in pavement and shorts caused by drip pans are additional examples of the 344's capabilities. The Short Finder is also equipped with a railroad focus spectrum analyzer to help determine what AC frequencies are on the track.
