Rail Experience: Muti began her 28-year rail career at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) as a laborer. She gained working knowledge of the authority through direct experience, and it shaped the practical, disciplined leadership style she brings to her role today, in which Muti leads more than 130 employees and is trusted with some of the department's most complex work and most demanding deadlines. She stepped into a department that needed direction and helped create a culture where people feel supported and expected to grow. As the first woman in her role, Muti has also widened the perception of who can lead in this field without making the work about herself.
Mentorship Role: Muti has built mentorship into the culture of her department and into the daily experience of the people she guides. She currently mentors more than 20 individuals across several departments. Her approach is direct, respectful and grounded in experience. She pushes employees to expand their skills and provides honest feedback in a way that builds readiness rather than dependence. Muti also chartered the first GCRTA corporate Toastmasters club and serves as president of the division. She cofounded Elevating Women Together, an employee resource group, and created Women in Power, a group that connects retirees with current employees to share institutional knowledge, perspective and lived experience.
Muti's impact is both personal and structural. She has developed individuals, strengthened teams and created lasting channels for growth inside a demanding industry. Her mentorship is visible in the confidence she builds, the opportunities she opens and the stronger organization she is helping shape.
