Rail Experience: Grimm started his more than 15-year career in rail and intermodal transportation with CN as head dispatcher for the Chicago terminal, CN's largest U.S. intermodal facility. He managed daily dispatch operations for owner-operator fleets, ensured on-time service for priority customers and recovery trucking solutions for key accounts. He was central to terminal optimization efforts at CN's Harvey terminal, supporting initiatives that reduced wait times and improved driver productivity. Grimm spent eight years as supervisor of road operations, managing CN teams across dispatch, brokerage and empty-mile programs throughout the southern region.
Since March 2022, Grimm has served as regional manager of trucking operations, supporting CN's intermodal and multimodal strategy across Memphis, Chicago and Detroit. He also leads CN's Idle Reduction Technology Taskforce. Grimm breaks down internal silos between dispatch, sales and customer service to deliver integrated, cost-effective and rail-supported trucking solutions.
Mentorship Role: As a dispatch supervisor and later supervisor of road operations, Grimm mentored employees in high-pressure intermodal environments, helping dispatchers, drivers and supervisors understand how individual decisions impact safety, service reliability and terminal efficiency. In his current role as regional manager of trucking operations, Grimm mentors supervisors across multiple states, modeling data-driven decision making and creative exception management. By encouraging employees to share ideas, challenge inefficiencies and lead safety initiatives, Grimm creates confident decision makers who understand the importance of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.
