Rail Experience: King has more than 40 years of experience leading AEC firms. In his current role, he manages a staff of more than 50 professionals and a portfolio of work spanning New Jersey to Los Angeles. He oversees department performance and project delivery and is one of two internal members on the Urban Engineers board.

A well-known, respected and sought-after professional in the rail and transit fields, King's list of clients includes numerous transit agencies in the Northeast. He has served as project executive and manager on the $2 million World Trade Center PATH station reconstruction, the $200 million state-of-good-repair project for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak's $75 million Central Control Facility in Manhattan, among others.

Mentorship Role: One of King's key contributions to Urban Engineers was his role in establishing the firm's Developmental Council, an initiative that brings together staff from different service areas to support career growth through defined career paths, training and mentorship. Under King's leadership, the council researched, wrote and delivered a development policy white paper, which outlined steps to strengthen employee development, retention and succession planning. The recommendations have since been formalized by Urban's Executive Committee and adopted into firm policies.

King's mentoring style is hands-on and focused on building confidence and capability over time. He encourages mentees to take on new challenges while providing steady guidance. King's mentorship has been especially impactful during transition periods. Following significant retirements in the rail and transit department, he took charge of rebuilding the team, recruiting a strong mix of experienced professionals and emerging talent over the past two years.
