Rail Experience: Arambulo's career at Union Pacific Railroad started in 2004 as a track laborer, operator and foreman. From long days in the field on system gangs and maintenance crews, he developed respect for the workforce and an intimate understanding of railroad infrastructure maintenance. Arambulo held several supervisory roles in trackwork before progressing into senior leadership. He has guided large, geographically diverse organizations, overseen major track and capital programs, and helped shape the strategic direction of UP's maintenance and engineering functions.
Mentorship Role: As a mentor in the companywide mentorship program, Arambulo has guided three mentees, supporting individuals within his engineering organization and across departments, including a mentee in the mechanical division. His approach goes beyond advice — he actively listens, challenges thoughtfully and helps mentees envision new possibilities for their careers. Within his department, Arambulo participates in the Rising Rail Leaders mentoring program, in which he currently coaches two emerging leaders, preparing them for future roles critical to the rail industry's success.
Beyond those initiatives, Arambulo is part of UP's Living Library program, which enables employees to learn from each other's experiences by "checking out" members for 30-minute conversations. In his sessions, Arambulo shares his 100-pound weight-loss journey, inspiring his colleagues to prioritize health and resilience. Additionally, he supports mentorship through participation in multiple employee resource groups.
