As of June 1, RCE Equipment Solutions Inc. — previously known as Rail Construction Equipment Co. (RCE) — implemented its new name, company website and updated corporate identity. The new name, RCE Equipment Solutions Inc., reflects the company’s "growth and diversification goals," according to a company press release. RCE Equipment Solutions manufactures construction equipment, and also adapts conventional heavy equipment — such as excavators, wheel loaders and motor graders — to specialized applications within the rail and energy industries. “For the last 15 years, we’ve focused primarily on rail maintenance equipment,” said Steve Benck, president and owner of RCE. “However, the past few years, we’ve had several customers request custom equipment design projects outside the rail market. Our skilled team of engineers and project managers created new products with ease, making the opportunity of expansion a natural transition.” RCE Equipment Solutions is the umbrella company for three different divisions: RCE Rail, RCE Energy and RCE Engineering. RCE Rail continues to cater to the rail market. This division has put into production 30+ highly specialized machines for rail maintenance tasks, primarily hi-rail excavators (Railavators) equipped with custom attachments, like under cutter bars or tamper heads. RCE Railavators feature a patented hydraulic powered retractable hi rail, allowing the equipment to move on and off the track quickly. Several of the smaller models now include an adjustable lower track frame. When retracted, the machine is under the legal size for transit without a required permit. In work mode, the hydraulically operated frame expands to straddle the track. In 2017, RCE Rail also launched an All Makes Rail Gear package. The hi-rail gear for 20 metric class excavators can be installed on John Deere, CAT and Komatsu excavators now, providing ultimate versatility for all makes equipment to be modified for the racks. The RCE Rail product line includes hi-rail excavators, swing loaders and motor graders, as well as tie cranes, third-rail specific equipment, attachments and carts.
