GLOVIS America recently presented BNSF Railway Co. an award to recognize the railroad’s vehicle handling excellence in 2005.

Last year, BNSF handled more than 200,000 vehicles for the company — which manages U.S. logistics for automakers Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America — and prevented damage to most of the freight. BNSF also received GLOVIS America’s vehicle handling award two years ago.

“BNSF continues to be instrumental in the shipment of Hyundai and Kia vehicles from the West Coast to the Midwest and Texas, and now from the new Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Ala., to the western United States, said Marv Baisden, GLOVIS America vice president and chief operating officer, in a prepared statement.

In 2005, BNSF handled a total of 1.8 million vehicles and registered a damage-free rate of 99.8 percent.
